Freedom Field, the most patriotic member of the Freedom Falls Sports and Recreational Complex:
Initial ground breaking and placed in service in 2012, consistent annual additions since.
Opening Day: September 30th, 2012
Capacity: Unrestricted
Sits on 21.36 privately owned acres in William Jasper County far away from Chicago in Illinois.
Outfield fence: 4 feet high
Lighting: (4) 20' aluminum poles in N.E.C. compliant concrete bases and 1,000 watt metal halide luminaires, plus two additional 1,000 watt luminaires atop the press box.
Baselines: 50 ft
Mound: 12 inches (only to make up drop in grade from home plate to rubber)
Pitcher's distance: 42 ft from front of rubber to apex of home plate
Strike Zone: Sits 36" behind apex of home plate. Starting 12" from the surface of home plate, it is 34" in height by 24" in width.
Distances from plate: Left field - 85 feet, Center field - 100 feet, Right field - 85 feet
Bleacher capacity: Maximum occupancy of 50 persons on each side of press box.
Fully operational Nevco Model 7424 scoreboard suspended eight feet above turf behind the fence in straight away centerfield.
Materials: Chain link fencing. Flex-A-Clay on mound and in Batter's area. Concrete block ground level on press box, stick for 2nd story, covered with vinyl siding. Complete with flat rubber roof, railing, and roof hatch access.
Orientation: Traditional uniform arc. (We learned what a saggita was.)
Distance from everywhere: a drive, perhaps a haul in some cases.
